Street View of Alpe d' Huez

There is no other climb in all of cycling as famous as the Alpe d' Huez. It's not the steepest or longest, but it is "the climb."

There are probably thousands of pictures of it and videos of cyclists going up it, but I found it a lot of fun to do my own virtual ride up it using Google's "Street View."

Google hasn't street mapped many places in Europe, but luckily they decided to drive up the Alpe d' Huez. Maybe they are cycling fans...

Below is a snapshot of what one of the 21 switchbacks looks like with snow capped mountains in the background. A great thing about street view is that you can look 360 degrees from every point along the route.

there is a climb that is steeper, longer, and yes, more famous than this one....it's called palomino mountain in san diego. it's near palomar.

Son, I'm not familiar with that climb... You'll have to enlighten me. Does the name of the climb mean "Little Palomar?"

I actually think the climb you are talking about is a downhill... :)
