My first time racing more than once in a weekend. I had one of my strongest interval workouts this past Tuesday, but my legs felt awful on my Thursday ride, nothing in them. So I knew this weekend was going to be interesting.
Road Race: 19th (of 59) Toughest race on my legs so far. Made the selection down to the last 22, but I got stuck behind a crash of 3 guys at 1km and after coming to a stop, I couldn't bridge back up. Realistically may have been able to finish just a few spots higher.
Pain Mountain TT: 18th (of 49) That hill is no joke. Definitely my fault, but got ZERO warm-up for this (and the Road Race too), so I'm halfway happy with that. I should have gotten up at 4am instead of 4:40am. BTW, line to register at the Road Race took 40 minutes. That = no warmup.
Criterium: 40th (of 43, ouch!) First race of the year where I got dropped, sucked, but I didn't quit.
More detailed race report coming in the next post, I'm beat and have to get some sleep.
Note to self: don't make sleeping arrangements so that making it to a bike race involves getting up at 4:30am on Saturday and 4:40am on Sunday.

very nicely done. good on you for racing, you are getting better! i wish i had the talent to race!
Thanks Toon! I wish I had a little more firepower this weekend, especially in the crit. I struggled to hang on in the Road Race and bridge up after a crash on "the hill" during the first lap. After I got back on after that it was survival/recover mode and I was constantly fighting to stay in contact. The icing on the cake was that I was sitting in the back of the pack at 1k to go and 3 guys crashed in front of me causing me to lose contact. So, I got going again and rolled solo across the finish line. That's what I get for sitting at the back. A few decent photos from the weekend that I'll post in my next entry. Son, you better fuel up if you're going riding for 2.5 hours!!! We've all been there and btw, you could be racing tomorrow, you gots the talent. Remember when you used to pull me around the SDBC loop? And...when you and JW stomped away from mile 75-100 during the Southern California LiveStrong Ride? That's what I thought son! This is the longest comment in the history of blogger :)
couldnt you pre-reg? When we went up there, they gave us all our race numbers on sat morning before the RR. Awesome job though. I am amazed that cezanne is willing to put up with all this racing. YOu have an amazing girl!
JW! My fault for not explaining better. Definitely pre-reg'd, the line I was describing was the line to pick up our numbers. I just called it the "registration" line, but it was really the "number pick-up" line.
The Ephrata RR was the first race all season that Cezanne wasn't at. She thinks it's not being supportive if she isn't at ALL the races, but I try to convince her that she VERY supportive of my cycling and coming to half (or less) of the races is fine!
I told her to sleep in a skip the TT and meet me at the crit, but she went to both. I'm REALLY lucky.
